What I’m listening to: Personal Finance podcasts
by Dave Ramsey
Where I’m failing: Late night eating….my good friend,
Paul B, got me a really good deal on protein drinks, but I need to incorporate
them into my daily diet instead of waking up and drinking them and eating
protein bars at 2 AM…
What I’m excited about: Hitting the local farmer’s market
with my father-in-law n a few, and later this afternoon, visiting Helping
Hands, a local food bank, with my buddy Corey, to start planning a
community garden installation.
Quote that has me thinking: “Be the silence that listens.” – Tara
Brach
What I need to work on: My historical fiction novel.
Started back re-editing, but it’s been very slow-go. Contacting an editor/publisher
to force my hand some.

Kadar….awesome for the soul….

Fitting Quote...
I cannot give you a formula for
success, but I can give you the formula for failure, which is: try to please
everybody. - Herbert Bayard Swope

Great Quotes: Different....but Similar...
A man’s gotta have a code, a
creed to live by. - John Wayne
Men can’t be wandering hippies trying to find
themselves. We need to be the rock, the shoulder that others lean on, the north
star that our tribes follow. – Chad Howse

Alex...
My friend Alex was kind enough to meet me for lunch today at
Hemingway’s on the square…. http://hemingwaysmarietta.com/
before he heads off to Yale for divinity school. I will miss our conversations,
but know that he will use his newfound wisdom to serve God well in the future.

who come to grab the fruit.” – Alexis

What I need to work on: My historical fiction novel.

June End of Month Report
Three of the metrics I decided to track/improve in 2017 were
Net Worth, Debt and Average Weight. So far, I’m up 9%, down 69% and down 6%,
respectively. Feeling fortunate and hoping to maintain momentum.

Fudge Rounds and Mark 12:42
Today at
our community feeding a young boy named Kemario came out of his home with a
half empty box of fudge rounds that his mother wanted to contribute to the work
we were doing to serve our neighbors. It made me think of the story shared in the
gospel of Mark….
Mark 12:
41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the
offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the
temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a
poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly
I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all
gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all
she had to live on.”
